I've followed the soylent developments from early on. Reading rob rineharts blog, trying home-made and many (mostly dutch) alternatives. I've liked Jake from the start.
Recently in one of many food related discussions I mentioned this great addition to my choices of food in my life. Like many times before i've convinced a friend to try Jake (i'm a big fan of oaty vanilla light) and let him try some of my batch. As always i forgot to send him the referral link for discount.
After he orderd a big batch he came back to taste mine and then complained his was worse. I tried for myself and had to admit this was not what I had expected. I usually order a big batch and have periods of eating more or less jake meals in a month, so I have a fairly old (more pink-ish) batch. This is more yellow, has more gritty mouth feel and very a different taste.
My friend and I agree that my older batch tastes better and feels easier on the stomach. I feel kind of betrayed, because my friend ordered his batch following my advice and didn't get what I promised him he'd get. I don't feel I can refer to this option as enthousiastically as I did before and i'm not planning to order any of this new wannabe oaty-vanilla.
Not looking forward to a new exploration of soylent-alikes, so I hope things will change back soon. Is there any way to get updated on changes to the formula? Oh and while you are changing things, maybe a bit less sodium? Thank you.
