I've only ordered Jake for the first time now, so I'm still waiting for the customs bill from UPS (though the product was delivered yesterday). But from previous products I've ordered (Saturo and Joylent), here is what happens:
- 15% VAT
- "Tollsats" for what you are importing e.g. 32,- * 7 kg (for a 40 pkg)
- Fee from the company that handles the import (UPS)
The last fee varies depending on who ships. With some products you can customs declare it yourself, but not food as fars as I know. The fee varies between 350-650,- noks depending on the company. PostNord hit me with over 600,- once, and that was just disgusting.
If the "tollsats" Jake provides on their site is correct, my current shipment (1125,- noks, 40 meals) will be:
1125,- price + 170,- VAT + 224,- (tollsats) + 331,- UPS fee = 1850,- nok
Or 46,- noks pr. meal (about what I'd expect if this was sold at e.g. REMA. (*)
Of course, this is all theory. I can post the final bill here after it arrives.
That said, I'm surprised at tollsats Jake provides on their site, so we'll see what happens. In any case - yeah, it gets expensive. Since the customs fee is a flat fee it makes sense to order a large batch if you do.
The sample kit is of course below the customs limit, so it only costs what you pay with you credit card when you order.
(*) Edit: customs bill came in at 663,- nok,making the total order 1788,- nok, or 44,- noks pr. meal.
