Hi, as a bioeconomist I was wondering if you performed some sort of life-cycle assessment on the shakes to assess their sustainability and the impact they have on the environment. I am a strong believer that this kind of food is the future and would be even more so if a regular meal with a shake will be less polluting than regular food.

Hi @LPC,

Thanks for your contribution on this topic, we can always use your professional look at this.
We are indeed thinking about some sort of life-cycle assessment, to assess the sustainability and the impact they have on the environment. But at the moment we are not there yet. But at the moment we already save 12 kg of CO2, 11000 liters of water and 14 m2 of forest per 20 meals compared to an alternative meal.

If you have any tips for us, we would love to hear from you!

Best,

Julia

Thank you very much for your reply, the fact the Jake Shakes are more sustainable than a regular meal is very important to me and I am sure that it is also important for other people which brings me to the question of why is not openly said on Jake's Ig and other platforms?. Maybe I am wrong and it is, but it sounds like something that the company should be constantly broadcasting alongside with it being vegan.

On the topic of the LCA, right now I am packed with stuff and hence I won't be able to look into it from my side. Nonetheless I am deeply interested and I would like to know if some progress has been done towards this direction, e.g. of you are planning to set up an LCA team (not asking for details or anything like that as I know I am just a random dude in the forum).

Anyway, thank you very much for your reply, I will probably ask again in the future-
Looking forward to the upcoming Keto Shakes

Hi @LPC,

Thanks for your response!
Very good that you notice this, we are certainly aware of this ourselves. That is why we have been working on a rebranding for a while, in which we focus more on the fact that we are sustainable, 100% recyclable and vegan.
But it is great that you look at this so critically, we certainly benefit from that!

Hopefully you will like our upcoming keto shakes!

Best,

Julia
