Hi @Mike, we haven't had any recalls due to bad batches. We work according to the 'Hazard analysis and critical control points (HACCP)' system. To implement that system is required by EU law, which is enforced by the Dutch Food and Safety Authority (nVWA). The system allows you to identify risks and take precautions accordingly, as well as develop a procedure in case of for example contamination.
One of the important precautions we take is to periodically get our batches checked by an independent laboratory. The scope of that check is to identify any harm that it may cause to our users. Amongst the checks are tested for heavy metals (e.g. lead and cadmium), harmful bacteria (e.g. salmonella) and allergens.
Another important aspect of any food facility is traceability. All incoming materials are documented by their batch. All of our production runs get a unique batch code as well. Because every facility is required to be able to trace materials, we're able to trace every pouch of Jake back to its origin.
