Hi @Ingolf
A ketogenic diet consists mainly of high-fat, moderate protein and very few carbohydrates. The macronutrients are divided into about 55% to 60% fat, 30% to 35% protein and 5% to 10% carbohydrates. Based on a 2000 kcal per day that would mean 20 to 50 grams of carbohydrates per day.
The keto shake can be seen as 1/5 of your total day and has the following nutritional value:
Because our Jake shakes are based on 2000 kcal per day, less grams of the keto shake are needed to get this amount of energy.
The Original contains relatively much more carbohydrates and proteins, and these provide less energy per gram than fats do.
In addition, the Original is intended as 1/3 of your day, the keto shake provides 1/5 of the nutrients and recommended daily amounts of vitamins and minerals.
I have made a list below per nutrient, to see the differences:
1 gram of fat provides 9 kcal
1 gram of carbohydrates provides 4 kcal
1 gram of protein provides 4 kcal
1 gram of alcohol provides 7 kcal
In addition, some fibers provide energy. For fiber, an average of 2 kcal per gram is therefore used. Water, vitamins, and minerals provide no calories.
If you have any further questions about this, please let me know.
